Monthly full moon break down.

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

Create the space to release and let go. Work with the rhythms of the moon and stars as part of your healing.

"Well, It's a marvellous night for a moondance..."

Ah, the songwriting and voice of Van Morrison. I've been listening to Mr. Morrison ever since my Dad introduced me to him when I was in my teens. His music spoke to me. His voice enthralled me. And while I do love a good dance party to Brown-Eyed Girl, especially since my number one, born shortly after my intro to Moondance, is brown-eyed. It was my favourite song because it was catchy. I had a lot to learn about the depths of Van's repertoire. A. lot.

Of course, the Moondance album released 1970 (four years before I made an appearance in the world) was and still is well listened to, so much so in the space between songs as the last "me" of And It Stoned Me trails off, and before Moondance begins I can hear the first piano notes of the intro....

Well, it's a marvellous night for a moondance With the stars up above in your eyes. A fantabulous night to make romance 'Neath the cover of October skies. And all the leaves on the trees are falling

It is a song that is always on my full moon playlist, but this month, I've gotten to listen to it twice, with there being two moons in October of 2020. Tonight is the blue moon, the second of the moons, so rare that the phrase "once in a blue moon" describes the rarity of this phenomena. All moons are powerful, particularly full and new moons, but this one is auspicious and rare for more reasons than it being blue, which btw only happens every 19 years! And the last time there was a blue moon on October 31st was in 1944, 10-months before the end of WWII (what the!?!).

It's Halloween. Samhain (watch Hocus Pocus if you have not idea what that is).

All Hallows. The Hunter Moon. The planets and signs are aligned in a most interesting way.

And personally, the sun is in my sign today, Ahhhhoooooooo!!!

Here's my monthly breakdown of this mighty moon:

The moon is in fixed earth sign Taurus and the sun is in fixed water sign Scorpio. Fixed. Meaning firmly fastened into position. Unmovable. We will want to resist. To fight. To flight. To freeze. To fawn. Numbing to avoid dealing with all that will come up. To avoid our own bullshit. But don't. Fight the urge to control and instead remain open. Move past the fear, release the anxiety, shake the restlessness and embrace the rapid emotional change. Remove the walls from your heart, open the gates to your mind, and create space in your soul because big beautiful bountiful shifts are coming your way. Especially in money, self-love, and relationships. But only if you allow. Let go. Loose control.

Now, remember, I am a Scorpio. Unmovable. Fixed. So even I am experiencing resistance, and especially as I write not to my ego is standing guard. So don't be too hard on yourself. Meet yourself with kindness and compassion. Allow vulnerability to wash over you.

Falling in Mar's ruling sign of Aries and activating Mercury Retrograde (gulp!) there will be DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA. Toxic and distracting us from the real issues and the truth but we must go past the drama to see the story. To find the roots. To see, feel and embrace our truth. Conjunct with the asteroid Chiron, known as the wounded healer and representing our deepest wounds, those that if healed bring awareness, freedom, acceptance, and connection. Chiron affects all aspects of wellness — our physical health, mental wellness, emotional regulation, and spiritual well being. Chiron was first discovered in November 1977, the month I turned three, a fascinating time in a child's development and a year before my first trauma, my origin wound. Channel Chiron to walk the bridge between the worlds to achieve a higher state of consciousness.

It is no surprise as I write this post and do ceremony while in relapse, with my trauma responses running the show, that this moon is about deep healing and awakening. It is a time to take our wounds and turn them into powerful portals for change by harnessing our strength, wisdom, and compassion while also tapping into the thinness between the spiritual and physical worlds. As a child and an adult Halloween has always been my favourite day of the year. When I began to learn about and explore astrology and nurture my spiritual connection, it came as no surprise to to find out Scorpio is an intuitive, witchy, healing sign with strong ties to shamanism and the occult. Yep, sounds like me. Make no wonder I love October 31st!!!

It is a day of pure magic, and the eve of the new year ahead. November 1st being new year's day according to celtic traditions.

It is the time of year my trauma rears its head creating crippling anxiety and leading to deep depression. It is the dark time of year, literally and figuratively, But this time of death is also a time of renewal. For in the decay, in the compost, are the ingredients needed to spark and ignite the growth.

Jennifer Racioppi, one of my trusted astrology sources says, "Like a lightning rod, you want to be both the conduit and the conductor of this potent cosmic rush of power, seeking its expression through your senses."

Powerful stuff. The moon is next to Uranus, the planet of rebellion and the unexpected. Be ready for surprises. Ah-ha moments. And blow your mind insights. They will be fast and furious, seemingly coming from out of nowhere, but they come within. From your deep intuition. Your place of knowing. Taurus the deep-thinking bull and the emotionally gifted scorpion are both tenacious and focused in the pursuit of their big dreams and intimate desires. These are disruptive signs. Change makers and creators. Alchemists. It will be a swift move from insight to action. An instant move to manifestation.

Release. Create. Disrupt to liberate. Break out. Break free. Clean. Purge. Not only for the "I" but for the "we". And for our past, present, and future generations. It's a healing revolution. For you. For me. For us. For the world.

P.S Here is one of my most loved full moon playlists. Yes, of course, Moondance is on there!!!!

P.P.S. Now go. Move. Meditate. Manifest with the moon. You are pure magic. And don't you forget it!!!

P.P.P.S I hope this has shone some light on why you may have been feeling heavy, confused, sad, or overwhelmed in the week leading into the full moon. If the moon affects the tides of the ocean and the cycles of creation as it does, why would we not consider it's impact on our emotional-wellbeing.
